Water Mitigation And What To Expect

In the case of having water damage on your property. There are a few things to know to help cause less damage and move forward with the mitigation process.
The first step is to turn off the water source. Call a plumber out for repairs. All leaks need to be fixed before any dry down or demolition can be completed. If possible place buckets or towels to help stop the water from spreading.
Once the water source has stopped leaking SERVPRO of Woodland Hills can come in and assess the damage. We have trained technicians that use moisture meters to track how far the water has traveled. Our technicians mark the affected areas with blue tape for a visual representation of where the moisture is.
The next step is to set drying equipment. We place dehumidifiers and air movers to help move forward with the dry down process. Without air flow mold can develop in as little as 24 hours. If the structure seems to not be drying out efficiently we recommend demolition. Or any materials that are damaged beyond repair. By day 3 of drying our technicians have an idea of what is going to dry in place or not.
This process takes a short amount of time to help you get your property back to normal.
